We’re just a little bit over one week until Season 5 ofThe Chosencelebrates itsarrival on Prime Video, and fans are eager to see how the next part of Jesus’ (Jonathan Roumie) life plays out. The eight-episode installment isset for a staggered release, meaning audiences won’t be able to binge it all in one go. Still, we’re expecting to see the streamer clock in some huge viewership numbers during the second half of the month, considering the gargantuan following the Biblical series has gathered over the last few years. Spanning religions and cultures,The Chosen’s fandom has proven to be faithful to the series, which isn’t a surprise to its creator,Dallas Jenkins.
During a conversation with BroadwayWorld, Jenkins, who also co-writes and directs the title, explained why he thoughtThe Chosenhad the power to pull in audiences from so many backgrounds, no matter what their faith system might be. Revealing that he thinks it’s all in the storytelling, Jenkins said,

“We hear from people all over the world who aren’t traditional believers, who are impacted by the storytelling. A great story is a great story. And I think people can feel the sense that I’m not trying to preach at them with this show. I’m just trying to give them an authentic idea of who Jesus is and what it was like in the first century, and who these people were in first-century Galilee, and I think the audiences appreciate that. I can appreciate stories of people, groups that I don’t necessarily identify with, and I think others can do the same with this show.”
What To Expect from Season 5 of ‘The Chosen’
As has been the case with previous seasons,The Chosenfollowed the trend ofreleasing episodes into cinemasahead of their streaming arrival. And, considering theimpressive financial haulthat the episodes took in at the box office during their run back in late March and early April, it’s safe to say that many fans have already seen the next chapter. But, if you’re not one of them, what you can expect is the lead-up to the infamous Last Supper, which will, in turn, carry the series into its penultimate season. These episodes will be more dramatic in tone than the ones that came before, as they move towards the darkest stories in the Bible.
Episodes 1-2 arrive on June 15 and will be followed by 3-5 on June 22, with 6-8 rounding the season out on June 29. The first four seasons ofThe Chosenare now available on Prime Video.
