In just four days of release, in fact, the film has becomeone of the 10 highest-grossing video game adaptations in global box office history. It’s now poised to overtake the lifetime global haul ofPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time, one of the earliest big-budget video game adaptations produced during a particularly tragic run for Disney. It was only shortly afterward that the studio released mega-budget bombs such asJohn CarterandTomorrowland.

It debuted theatrically in 2010, andconcluded its run with $90 million domestically and around $335 million worldwide. It also earned poor reviews, and currently holds a “rotten” 37% approval rating on the aggregator websiteRotten Tomatoes. The film’s audience score on the platform isn’t much better, at 58%.
