However, ratings have since dropped despite a strong,star-studded castthat includesDon Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. Now, fears over the show’s future have cast a gray cloud over once-easy waters, leaving the journey ahead for this luxury cruise ship potentially choppy. Nevertheless, the promise of a high-octane two-part finale to the show’s opening season might hopefully see viewers return, with the promo for the upcoming penultimate episode, “The Wave,” sure to make a splash with audiences.
Following last night’sEpisode 16, “Double Booked,“in which a double booking causes chaos for opposing book tours and leaves the respective authors in need of medical attention, the promo for next week’s outing aired, and it is nothing short of eye-popping. Available to watch below, the promo teases the episode’s titular “Wave” and the huge damage it is likely to cause.Bodies are flying and guests are screaming as a tsunami siren warns everyone back to the ship, although the vessel seems anything but safe if the final shot of the cruise liner doing battle with the water is anything to go by. An official synopsis for the episode reads:

“After Max’s declaration fractures his relationship with Avery, he leaves the ship and finds himself caught in an earthquake, which triggers a tsunami warning; with The Odyssey forced to leave port, Max races to return before it’s too late.”
Will There Be a ‘Doctor Odyssey’ Season 2?
Although the series initially drew huge numbers for ABC,Doctor Odysseyhas seen somewhat of a rapid decline, with viewers losing interest in thisGrey’s Anatomy-esque tale of medical drama on the sea. Currently, the series has just45% on review aggregatorRotten Tomatoesvia audiences, with 63% from critics, at least providing somewhat of a positive. The show’s future, despite many other similar series already getting the green light for renewals, is still up in the air, somethingaddressed by Disney TV Studios chiefEric Schrierwhen he admitted toDeadlinethat the show’s future remains in the hands of creatorRyan Murphy. “I really loveDoctor Odyssey,I think it’s a wildly inventive show, and we’re doing everything we can to support it,” Schrier said, adding, “That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there’s stories to tell that he feels confident in.” To find out when a decision is eventually made onDoctor Odyssey,make sure to stay tuned to Collider.
