True-crime fans are in for a treat later this month when Hulu debuts its latest based-on-real-life production,The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Following the infamous case that rocked the world in 2007,Grace Van Patten(Tell Me Lies,Nine Perfect Strangers) will star as the titular woman whose name made international headlines after she was accused of murdering her roommate and fellow exchange student in Perugia, Italy. As part ofCollider’s Exclusive Previewevent, we’ve got not just one but two brand-new, never-before-seen images of Van Patten in her latest leading role.
It’s the tale of two Amandas in today’s photos, as the showcased versions of the young woman couldn’t be more different from one another. The first depicts her as carefree, wearing a red and pink striped sweater and showing off an award-winning smile. Looking off camera, she walks through the brick streets, presumably in her temporary new home, eager with excitement about what the future holds. In the second shot, the bleakness of that future comes into focus. A shell of that happy-go-lucky person from the first image, she can be seen breaking down in front of what we imagine to be a group of law enforcement officials who are arguing over her innocence.

The Story Behind ‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox’
American student, Amanda Knox, was just 20 years old when she was accused of the murder of her roommate,Meredith Kercher. After spending the night with her boyfriend,Raffaele Sollecito, Knox came home to find Kercher’s body in their apartment. What followed was a botched police investigation that pulled Knox and Sollecito into the center of a murder mystery, with the Italian law enforcement officials pinning them both for the crime. While the world’s eyes were on Knox’s story, she was sentenced to prison — where she stayed for a handful of years before finally being released in 2011. A burglar namedRudy Guedewould eventually be tried and convicted of the murder after his bloody fingerprints were discovered on Kercher’s possessions.
