It’s easy to get confused about the what and where (and sometimes why) of the MCU regarding when the next movies are coming down the pike and who they will involve. But in an interview withBlastrfrom New York Comic Con,Evangeline Lillysets the record straight at least with what’s going on with her character, Hope Pym (a.k.a. The Wasp), in the next round of Marvel movies.

According to Lilly,Ant-Man and the Wasp(i.e.Ant-Man 2) will serve as an origin story for Hope as the Wasp, where we’ll get to see her trying on the suit and flying around for the first time. Though theAnt-Man and the Waspscript has been finished, it hasn’t been approved yet to move forward. But Lilly said that the reveal of the Wasp costume and exploring that character is something that they definitely want to save for a stand-alone movie. That’s why Lilly won’t be in the third Avengers movie,Infinity War, but she will be part of the team forAvengers 4(which is set to come out the following year).

Lilly also jokes that – in response toPaul Ruddgetting to be inCivil Warwithout her – “all I do when I’m around Paul is punch him in the face. It’s what we do, it’s our dynamic."

We don’t know much else aboutAnt-Man and the Waspthat this point (except thatMichael Peñawill return!), since the script is still waiting for approval, and we also don’t have a cast list yet forAvengers: Infinity War. So in other words, the Wasp may not be the only character who is left out ofInfinity Waronly to return inAvengers 4. The cast list is growing rather huge (and we still don’t know if the Netflix Marvel series will be included fully or not into the movies at that point), and even thoughCivil Wardid an astonishing job of time management given its sprawling cast, it feels like things might be helped along but spacing out all of the cameos. But we’ll see!
