It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a new episode ofBlack Mirror– the last being theJon Hamm-fronted 2014 Christmas special – but fortunately Netflix is hard at work righting that wrong. The streaming service commissioned12 new episodesof the equally bleak and brilliant British sci-fi series late last year and has been assembling the call sheet for the new season. In keeping withBlack Mirror’s first two seasons, which had a slew of fabulously talented actors includingMichael Smiley,Rory Kinnear,Jessica Brown Findlay,Toby KebbellandLindsay Duncan, the new roster is shaping up beautifully.

Deadlinereports thatJoe Wright(Atonement) is on board to direct one of the new Netflix episodes withBryce Dallas HowardandAlice Eveset to star. No further details are known about the episode at the this time, but Wright is an excellent pick for the material. While his first big-budget studio film was a bit of a clusterfuck, his aesthetic and grip of black humor make him a great fit forBlack Mirror’s dark and dreary techno-bent paranoia. Hell,HannameetsAtonementactually sounds like it could be a real pitch for the show.

Aside from the fact that series creatorCharlie Brookeris returning to pen most of the episodes, very little is known about the new season of Black Mirror at this point. We recently learned thatMackenzie Davis(The Martian)andGugu Mbatha-Raw(Concussion)are set to star in an episode helmed byKill Your FriendsdirectorOwen Harris– who also directed the soul-shattering Season 2 episode “Be Right Back”, which saw a grieving widow (Hayley Atwell) reunited with an incarnation of her late husband (Domnhall Gleeson) through technological means, and which also saw your face dissolve into a mess of tears as a devastating sense of your own mortality sunk in.

Netflix has yet to announce an official release date forBlack Mirrorso you have some time to steel yourself for the next round of emotional devastation.
