WhenElizabeth Olsenwas first cast as Scarlet Witch forAvengers: Age of Ultron, her fears of having to wear a skimpy outfit — as she typically wears in the comics — were put to rest, thanks to directorJoss Whedon. Instead, she donned something more appropriate for a hipster motorcycle bar in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, complimented by her rave-like hand gestures used to command her vast amounts of energy.
Wanda Maximoff appeared again inCaptain America: Civil War, directed byJoeandAnthony Russo, with a slightly more corseted ensemble. As Olsen joked duringour visit to the film’s set, she apparently needed to have a waist. Now, longtime Marvel concept artistAndy Parkrevealed more of what could have been with her costume, which had a more comic book-accurate rendition in earlier sketches.
While Wanda’s look from the neck down pretty much ended up in the finalized film, Park revealed one drawing with the character wearing a headband reminiscent of Scarlet Witch in the comics.Scott Johnson, illustrator for Marvel Super Heroes and Hasbro, then chimed in with a response on Twitter, revealing he used these drawings from Park to craft one of the Scarlet Witch images used to promoteCivil Warmerchandise.

It’s safe to assume Wanda will return, after Marvelites saw Captan America breaking his band of rebels out of The Raft. It’s unclear when, though, and with what costume. Unlike her other Avengers team members, Wanda tends to wear casual civilian clothes in lieu of a traditional superhero costume, though she does have one. Perhaps the battle headband will make an appearance down the road, considering every character typically gets a costume upgrade with each film appearance. Will it help her control her magic?
The future of the MCU seem laid out, so we can at least expect the Scarlet Witch to rave again inAvengers: Infinity War.
