For a number of insane reasons, a certain subsection ofGhostbustersfans are making Sony’s job of marketing the new film exceedingly difficult by spreading ill will and sowing misogynistic rhetoric. Perhaps tensions will be eased some if old and new fans alike can see the casts of the past and present uniting together in a solid front against the real enemy:ignorance and male chauvinismspooky ghosts. At least, that’s the plan, sinceJimmy Kimmel Live!will be dedicating an upcoming episode to a Ghostbusters Day celebration in which both casts will be in attendance.

A press release for the event announced thatBill Murray,Dan Aykroyd,Ernie HudsonandAnnie Pottswill reunite alongside new cast membersMelissa McCarthy,Kristen Wiig,Kate McKinnonandLeslie Jonesat 11:35pm ET/PT on June 8th on ABC. And before you ask if the ghost of the lateHarold Ramiswill be in attendance, don’t … it’s in bad taste (and I’ve already done it for you.)

Here’s what directorPaul Feighad to say about the event:

“Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together (will be) like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus. This is an epic summit of some of the funniest people on the planet. Long live the Ghostbusters!”

Ghostbusters Day will also see the original film’s re-release in 800 theaters nationwide, with encore showings June 12th. If you attend, you’ll also get a sneak peek of the newGhostbusters, which opens in theaters July 15th and is expected to have cameo appearances from the original cast.

In relatedGhostbustersnews, new details have emerged as to the soundtrack. The Playlistreports that RCA Records has revealed artists who are contributing tracks to the film:G-Eazy ft. Jeremih, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pentatonix, WALK THE MOON, andWolf Alice, along withFall Out Boyteaming up withMissy Elliottfor a cover ofRay Parker‘s original “Ghostbusters” theme. Something tells me this line-up isn’t going to sway any of the haters out there, but at this point I’m not sure what could. Maybe Aykroyd vouching for the film?

Some of the singles and artists have already rolled out via the record studio and movie’sTwitteraccount if you’d like to take a listen:
