Directed byChuck Russell, IAm Wrath(which is, by the way, what Travolta’s exquisite ink says) stars Travolta as Stanley, an unemployed everyman who goes on a quest for bloody revenge after corrupt police officers fail to bring his wife’s murderer to justice. With the help of his old friend Dennis (Meloni) and a mysterious background that makes him super good at killing and stuff, Stanley finds purpose in exacting revenge on the criminal’s who destroyed his life. Travolta and Meloni are Stanley and Dennis, revengers. This is gold, people.

Also starringRebecca De Mornay,Amanda Schull,Sam Trammell, andLuis Da SilvaJr,I Am Wratharrives on VOD April 15th before opening on theaters on May 13th. Check out the new trailer below.
The “grieving man on a revenge mission subgenre” has always been trope heavy and rarely been subtle or innovative, butI Am Wrathis noticeably leaning into some stylistic elements of another recent hit revenger. Whether it was originally designed to, or simply edited to for marketing,I Am Wrathis definitely cribbing onJohn Wick’s vibrant gun-slinging aesthetic, but that’s not a bad thing. Hell, iIfJohn Wickushers in an era of wildly entertaining revenge pics, that’s a wonderful thing.

This is the director behindThe MaskandThe Blobremake, not to mention the most delightfulNightmare on Elm Streetfilm, so there’s a chance I Am Wrath could be great fun. But this is also the director behindBless the ChildandThe Scorpion King, so there’s a chance it could be pretty bad fun, too. Point is, watching John Travolta and Chrstopher Meloni team up to take down the criminal underworld is probably going to be pretty fun.
Here’s the official synopsis forI Am Wrath:
Unemployed engineer Stanley Hill (Travolta) witnesses the brutal murder of his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay, TV’s Jessica Jones) who was attacked by thugs in a parking garage. When Detective Gibson (Sam Trammell, True Blood) and other corrupt police officers are unable and unwilling to bring the killers to justice, Stanley turns to his old friend Dennis (Christopher Meloni, Man of Steel, TVs Law & Order) and decides to take matters into his own hands. It is only then that Stanley and Dennis are found to have a mysterious past that, until now, they kept very well hidden.
As they wreak their revenge, those involved in the cover up realize that Stanley and Dennis are more dangerous than they could have ever imagined…
