One ofTaylor Sheridan’s biggest blossoming stars has responded to some major DCU casting rumors. Featuring in the recurring role of Spencer Dutton in1923isBrandon Sklenar, who has also been one of the names thrown around by fans to play Batman inJames Gunn’s DCU. The new Batman will make his DCU debut inThe Brave and the Bold, which currently does not have a release date, and although Gunn has confirmed that casting for the film has not yet begun, fans have still proclaimed that Sklenar would be the perfect choice for the new Dark Knight. During a recent interview with ScreenRant to promote his upcoming film,Drop, Sklenar was asked for his thoughts on being one of the leading choices by fans to play Batman:
“I mean, for Batman? [laughs] Let’s keep running with that!That’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid– and I’ve never even talked about it – It just started happening, and I was like, “This is cool!” And now, maybe, hopefully, it happens one day. I’d love to do it.It’s literally a childhood dream to do something like that, specifically that character. If I [were] ever to do any type of thing in the superhero space, that’s what it would be.”
Sklenar isn’t the only star that fans have proclaimed should next suit up as The Dark Knight.Reacher’s ownAlan Ritchsonhas also been among the top choices from Batman fans, with people proclaiming that his stoic demeanor andgargantuan stature make him the perfect choice. Ritchson is also already 42 years old, which would make him right around the right age to play an older Batman inThe Brave and the Bold. Another choice that has been around for years isJensen Ackles, theSupernaturalveteran who can also be seen playing Soldier Boy inThe Boys. Ackles' deep voice pairs well with his striking physique, and at 47 years of age, he is also a suitable candidate. However, given James Gunn’s casting history, it’s likely that he will choose someone no one is expecting.

Sklenar first made a name for himself starring in other projects such asThe Offer,Westworld,Vice, andMidway, but it wasn’t until his role in1923that he exploded to new levels of stardom. Sklenar also starred in one of the more controversial movies of last year,It Ends with Us, which set off a major legal dispute between leading starsBlake LivelyandJustin Baldoni. Sklenar’s new movie,Drop, which will see him team up withMeghann FahyandViolett Beane, will also hit theaters this weekend, and he’s been set to star alongsideSydney SweeneyandAmanda SeyfriedinThe Housemaid.
