Jason Stathamdoesn’t waste time—especially when it comes to teaming up withGuy Ritchie. The British action duo, who first broke out withLock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrelsin 1998, struck gold yet again with 2021’sWrath of Man. And while the movie had a modest theatrical run at the time, it’s now making serious noise on streaming. As of July 2,Wrath of Manis officially the No. 1 movie on Hulu.
After debuting on the platform just a day earlier, it shot up the ranks overnight—climbing from ninth place to the top spot in under 24 hours. Four years after its original release, Statham’s cold-blooded vigilante thriller is finding a whole new audience, and they’re clearly loving every second of it. On Hulu’s overall Top 10 chart,Wrath of Mancurrently sits in third place, only behindThe BearSeason 4 and reality hitThe Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Not bad for a film that Statham says took him “30 seconds to say yes to.” The actor toldEntertainment Weeklyback in 2021 that the pitch was an immediate sell:

“I really liked the premise, and I knew this would be a departure from the typical comedic stuff Guy does, but (would still be) brimming with style. It spans two genres - heist movies and revenge movies - and I have a personal affection for this type of movie.
Guy gave me a career 23 years ago. He is a really confident film-maker, he is an auteur, he writes and he creates, he captures it on film, he edits. He is a one-man show, and that is what sets him apart (from other directors).”

The feeling’s mutual, clearly. The two have now collaborated five times, includingSnatch,Revolver, andOperation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.Wrath of Manmarked their first reunion in over 15 years and was based loosely on the 2004 French filmCash Truck.Statham stars as H, a mysterious and intimidating new hireat an armored truck company in Los Angeles. After calmly gunning down a group of would-be robbers with military precision, his dark past—and a thirst for vengeance—begins to unravel.
Is ‘Wrath of Man’ Worth Seeing?
Critics were mixed when the film dropped in May 2021, giving it a68% on Rotten Tomatoes. But audiences? They loved it. With a whopping 90% audience score on the site and a Verified Hot badge to prove it,Wrath of Manhas become one of the most rewatched action films in Statham’s catalog.
The movie pulled in $103.9 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, with another $5 million in home media sales. Not a box office behemoth, but a tidy hit that more than earned its keep—especially with its streaming resurgence now in full swing.
