The story of one of history’s most iconic photojournalists will soon be making its way to the big screen - Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment have released the official trailer forLee.The biopic film will starKate WinsletasLee Miller,a model who changes careers to become aWorld War II correspondentand war photographer - and becomes one of history’s most well-known reporters in the process. Audiences will be able to sample her life story later this year, as Roadside will release the film in U.S. theaters on Sept. 27.

The trailer shows that portions of the film will be a flashback of war sequences while Miller is working as a war correspondent for Vogue, while others will feature an elderly Miller. In one notable scene, Miller is seen talking to her sonAntony Penrose(Josh O' Connor), who would also grow up to become a renowned photographer. “Do you think I went to war so people would know my name?” Miller asks. In another notable sequence that takes place during the war, Miller is told that women are not sent into combat, even as journalists. “Well that’s a problem, because I’m here,” she responds.

Miller Became One of History’s Best-Known Photojournalists

The real-life Miller is remembered as a groundbreaking photojournalists and one of the key documentarians of World War II. Born in 1907, Miller began her career as a model but soon found her calling in photography. She was in the United Kingdom when the war broke out and quickly became one of the best-known photojournalists as the conflict in Europe raged. Among the events she documented were the Blitz in London and the eventual liberation of Paris. She is also known for beingone of the first to take pictures of Nazi concentration campsduring the Holocaust, including the death camps of Buchenwald and Dachau. Miller’s most famous photo might actually be one of herself, taken by Scherman, showing her sitting inAdolf Hitler’sbathtub in Munich as the war was ending.

The film is anadaptation of the 1985 biographyThe Lives of Lee Millerby her son Antony.
