Ke Huy Quanhas been a part of many cinematic families over the years. After returning to acting in the biggest way possible, via 2022’s smash-hitEverything Everywhere All at Once, Quan became one of the most sought-after names in Hollywood.

When he was called up by MCU headKevin Feigeto appear inSeason 2of the studio’s beloved series,Loki, Quan says that he “could not believe it.” During an interview with Collider’sTherese Lacson, the Academy Award-winning actor talked about those very first moments of unbelievable joy and what it was like to settle in with the rest of the tight-knit cast forLoki’s second season.

“Well, first of all, when I decided to become an actor, again,joining the MCU was at the top of my wish list. So I could not believe it,” Quan says of receiving the news that Feige wanted him for the project. One, when Kevin Feige called me and asked me to be a part of the MCU, and second, when I read the character, it was amazing.I fell in love with O.B.right on the pages. It was so well written and defined. And I knew who he was right away.”

Although he fits into the character of thebrainy tech TVA wizardlike a glove, Quan admits to feeling “a little intimidated because series one was a huge hit.” Recognizing that he would be stepping into an already formed familial dynamic, Quan says, “They all know each other, especially, you know, the chemistry betweenOwen WilsonandTom Hiddlestonwas amazing. So I was a little worried. I didn’t know how I would fit in.”

Ke Huy Quan Received a Warm Welcome on the Set of ‘Loki’ Season 2

Despite his uncertainties, Quan says that he instantly became a member of the big ol’ happyLokifamily.

“The first day when I arrived on set, when I flew to London, immediately they welcomed me with wide open arms. I can feel the love, the warmth, the care that you know that they have. And Tom was so incredible, he was so caring. He said, ‘Ke, are you okay? Anything I can do?’ You know, and he’s like, ‘Is there anything you need to know?’ He was just [there] for me from day one. Of course, himplaying this character for the last 12 yearsand being apart of this universe for this long, he has this vast knowledge of it. He was always available if I ever needed.”

When the curtain closed on filming for the season, Quan says that he was excited to return for reshoots in February and to have the chance to see hisLokifamily again. “I kept waiting and waiting, and I was just looking forward to going back to London. Then, all of a sudden, I got this call saying, ‘We don’t need it anymore. It’s perfect.’” While he was thrilled that everything had gone so smoothly, even mentioning that this madeLoki“the very first Marvel project that didn’t require reshoots,” Quan says, “It was a little disappointing,” to not be reunited with the whole gang one more time.

Quickly becoming a standout fan-favorite, hopefully,LokiSeason 2 won’t be the last time that audiences see O.B., allowing Quan to not only reunite with his fast fam but also add more members throughout the heroic universe to the fold.
