Marvel’sThunderboltsis one of a trio of massive releases from Disney and Marvel Studios next year, alongsideCaptain America: Brave New WorldandThe Fantastic Four: First Steps. The movie is due to open in theaters in May, and a lengthy first look at the movie was revealed last month at D23 Brazil following the news earlier this year that it had concluded principal photography. However, there’s been a development as in the last few days, the movie has headed back to Atlanta for additional photography on the movie. Now, this could be cause for alarm becauseBrave New Worldhad to be reshot enormouslydue to issues with the script and story, but it seems likeThunderboltsis just doing some pick-up shots, which is entirely standard for a movie of this size.
The news came out after a fan spotted directorJake Schreiercalling the shotson set. While no cast members have been seen yet, it’s important to note that reshoots are a standard part of Marvel’s production process. So, what’s the goal of theseThunderboltsreshoots? That’s anyone’s guess, but there’s plenty of speculation of which we wouldn’t care to participate, but it could just be that the lighting on a few wide scenes wasn’t right, or that there was a continutity error, or maybe it’s to plant seeds for the team’s future role inAvengers: Doomsday. Who knows?

Fans Have No Idea What ‘Thunderbolts*’ Is
The movie featuresFlorence Pughas Yelena Belova,Sebastian Stanas Bucky Barnes,David Harbouras Red Guardian,Wyatt Russellas U.S. Agent,Hannah John-Kamenas Ghost,Olga Kurylenkoas Taskmaster,Julia Louis-Dreyfusas Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, andLewis Pullmanas “Bob.” The gang team up and… that’s about all that we know for sure.
Schreier recently gave some insight into the movie’s tone, andnoted that nobody actually knew therealstory:“I’ve seen a lot of synopses out there that just say, as though it’s a fact, that it’s a team assembled by Valentina to go do bad things. I understand why that would be the assumption, but that is not the story.”

Schreier also teased that this was a team that didn’t want to be a team, saying, “It’s exciting to think of movies likeRoninorReservoir Dogs, where you have a group of people that has no reason to trust each other. Could they even learn to work together? What sort of conflicts would arise?”
Thunderbolts*hits theaters on August 26, 2025.
