The report claims that Leitch beat outSnow White and the Huntsman’sRupert Sanders,Cabin in the Woods’Drew GoddardandBansheedirectorMagnus Martens, who were on the “to-meet” list for Fox. However, after Leitch met withRyan Reynoldsin New York, he got the offer soon after. THR also reports that Fox and the producers are currently looking for another director to helmDeadpool 3but no names have been mentioned at this time.

Variety reports that commercial directorSimon McQuoid, is in talks to helm theMortal Kombatreboot for New Line.James Wanis producing the movie andGreg Russois penning the most recent draft. McQuoid is an Australian filmmaker and one of the most in-demand commercials directors in the business, working on high-profile campaigns for PlayStation, Halo and other top brands. A release date for the reboot has not been set.

According to a report from THR,World War ZdirectorMarc Forsterhas come on board to directChristopher Robin, Disney’s live-action fantasy that centers on the human character fromWinnie the Pooh. The story will center on an adult Robin, now a businessman, who prioritizes work over his family when Winnie the Pooh appears needing help in finding his friends again. No release date has been set.
The very first footage from Sony’sSpider-Man: Homecomingwas unveiled to the lucky fans in attendance at Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year and now, according to ComicBook.com, the first full length trailer will be shown in theaters on Friday, December 16 attached to Disney’sRogue One: A Star Wars Story. Sony did not respond to a request for comment by the outlet so this should be classified as a rumor for the time being.

Bad news forStargatefans! A few years ago whenRoland Emmerichand producerDean Devlinannounced their plans to makeIndependence Day 2, the duo also revealed that they were working on aStargatereboot. As recently as this summer, Devlin revealed that in order to enact a plan that would include a new trilogy, they were going to be starting over with a reboot of the first movie. But nowthat plan appears to be dead in the water. Speaking with Empire, Devlin said everything with the project has fallen apart.
