Ever since its first episode,My Hero Academia: Vigilanteshas included characters that are completely familiar to fans of the franchise. Since the spin-off series takes place just a few years before the events ofMy Hero Academia, it’s not surprising that characters pop up sporadically, while some of them participate in entire episodes. This week, the show brought two familiar faces to take part in an event that might end badly.
Since the focus of the show was Narufest — a city-stopping event in which POP☆STEP (voiced byIkumi Hasegawain the original Japanese and byMacy Anne JohnsonintheEnglish dub) is slated to headline a musical presentation along with other two acts — it made perfect sense tobring back two charactersthat are known asMy Hero Academiashowstoppers: Present Mic (Hiroyuki Yoshino/Dave Trosko) and Nemuri Kayama (Akeno Watanabe/Elizabeth Maxwell), mostly known as Midnight. In the world ofMy Hero Academia, not every power is super-useful or destructive. In Present Mic’s case, he’s able to amplify his voice to incredible levels, which can be good in combat but also… when you need to present a city-wide event.

In Midnight’s case, she developed her performance abilities in order to better use her Quirk. The superhero is able to emit a scent that makes the opponent sleep, and in order to do that more efficiently, she developed a dominatrix personathat serves as a distraction in order for Midnight to hit her targets more efficiently. In the episode, titled “The Day Of,” Present Mic and Midnight are gearing up to participate in themusic festivalwhen a blackout hits the entire city.
What Other ‘My Hero Academia’ Characters Appear In ‘Vigilantes’?
Aside from Present Mic and Midnight, anotherMy Hero Academiacharacter popped in for a visit – Shota Aizawa (Junichi Suwabe/Christopher Wehkamp). The character appeared briefly earlier in the season, but now he gets a full-action moment while dealing with an attack that is very difficult to escape from. Additionally, All Might (Kenta Miyake/ChristopherSabat) is a constant presence in the series because Koichi (Shûichirô Umeda/Jack Broadbent) is a major fan of the superhero, owning action figures, coats, andeverything that evokes the All Might energy.
Additionally,My Hero Academia: Vigilantesrevealed a different version of a character we know.MHAvillain Stendhal appeared with a different look, but his violent nature was essentially the same. Due to how he looks and his slightly different demeanor, fans are speculating that the series will tell theorigin story of the villain. Of course, most of it is all in the manga series byHideyuki Furuhashi, but since not every fan is a manga reader, we can keep waiting to be surprised by the story.
