Ever since it was first announced, we’ve been promised somethingbigfromX-Men: Apocalypse. Indeed, co-writer/producerSimon Kinberghas described the picture as dealing with an “extinction-level event” in the form of its villain, the centuries-old mutant Apocalypse played byOscar Isaac. But Apocalypse won’t be alone when he’s wreaking havoc across the globe. We know that he assembles his Four Horsemen when he awakes in the year 1983, and his “squad” will be comprised of Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy), and most importantly, Magneto (Michael Fassbender).
Apocalypse imbues his new followers with even greater abilities, and in a new concept art image from the film, we get a peek at what a power-boosted Magneto looks like. Speaking withEW, which debuted the image, directorBryan Singerpromised some major sequences involving Fassbender’s morally questionable mutant:

“One of Apocalypse’s many powers is he can imbue other mutants with greater ones. Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful…. Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we’ve seen before.”
It’s tough to make out exactly what Magneto is destroying here, but the prospect of seeing the character with evengreaterpowers than before is certainly exciting from a visual standpoint. We know that Apocalypse is a visually enticing villain, getting a glimpse at a jumbo-sized Apocalypse in the film’s teaser trailer, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Singer plans to visualize all of these new superpowers in the context of the film, especially with folks like Psylocke and Angel in his pocket.

For now, check out the concept art below and sound off with what you think is going on in the comments. The film also starsJames McAvoy,Jennifer Lawrence,Nicholas Hoult,Tye Sheridan,Sophie Turner, andEvan Petersand opens in theaters on July 30, 2025.
