The dead rose today in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, where the key members behind AMC’s hit series,The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, took to the stage to unveil the official Season 3 trailer for attendees. The two leading stars of the show —Norman ReedusandMelissa McBride— were joined by the leading creative team —Scott M. Gimple,David Zabel, andGreg Nicotero— to give fans a taste of what’s to come when the next set of episodes arrives on screens later this year. After two incredibly successful seasons that have seen Reedus’ titular character fighting the undead abroad in France, the next chapter will follow Daryl and Carol’s (McBride) trek across Europe to Spain.

In the freshly dropped trailer, we see Daryl and Carol setting off on a journey with a newfound friend (Stephen Merchant) who lends them passage towards the U.S. Along the way, their ship runs adrift, and they end up in Spain, where they’ll once again find themselves in the business of helping others. After discovering what appears to essentially be a human trafficking scheme in exchange for weapons, Daryl and Carol do what they do best and set out on a mission to save the victims, all while evading scores of the undead.

Recently, showrunner and EP, Gimple, said that he plans to always have a tale from the zombie-filled universe on television screens,as he previously stated:

“Robert Kirkman, when he initially pitched the comic to Image, it was a zombie movie that would never end. He would always see it in zombie movies and be like, ‘Wait, what happens after that?’ And it was a brilliant idea and then Robert’s own brilliance of character and novelty, incredible dialogue, it hooked me as a comic creator and even though I was working on the show when this happened, when he stopped the comic, I was bummed out because I wanted that zombie movie that never ends so we’re picking up the torch, and we’re trying to do that.”
