Oasis-Knebworth

Oasiswas an English rock band based in Manchester where they formed in 1991. Before settling on the name Oasis, they previously called themselves the Rain. Though the band has gone through many personnel changes over the years, the initial run consisted ofLiam Gallagher(lead vocals, tambourine),Paul Arthurs(guitar),Paul McGuigan(bass guitar), andTony McCarroll(drums). The band was later joined by Gallagher’s older brother,Noel Gallagher, who would serve the band as lead guitarist and vocals. The Gallagher brothers always stayed, no matter the new lineups as time marched on and despite their constant disagreements.

In 1993, the band signed onto independently ran, Creation Records, and released their debut album,Definitely Maybe, in 1994 which was much loved by the public and launched them into the position to be able to come out with their hit record,(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?in 1995. The new album spent 10 weeks at the number one spot on the U.K. Albums Chart and currently stands as one of the best-selling albums of all time internationally. This would be the last album the band would record before heading in for their epic concert at Knebworth the following year.

Of his time taking the stage in front of a quarter-million people over two nights, Liam Gallagher said, “Knebworth for me was the Woodstock of the ‘90s. It was all about the music and the people. I can’t remember much about it, but I’ll never forget it. It was biblical.”

Although over the years, the band has ebbed and flowed and personalities have changed, we will always have Knebworth.
