In 2016,Yuri!!! on Icewas released onCrunchyrolland became one of the biggest anime of the year. It won numerous awards and currently has aMyAnimeListscore of 7.90. Now, the hit anime series will be available to watch on another streaming platform next month.
On June 06, 2025, all 12 episodes of Yuri!!! On Ice Season 1 will be available to stream on Hulu. Both the English Sub and Dub versions will be available on the streaming platform. When Yuri!!! On Ice was first released, and professional figure skaters highly praised the show’s accuracy. During the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Japanese skatersMiu SuzakiandRyuichi Kiharaperformed one of the show’s soundtracks during the pairs' competition.
Yuri!!! on Iceis an original sports anime created bySayo YamamotoandMitsurō Kubo, following the story of Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki (Toshiyuki Toyonaga), who professional Russian skater legend Victor Nikiforov (Jun’ichi Suwabe) is training. Through his training, Yuuri is able to improve on his craft whilst also finding better ways to deal with his anxiety and mental health, which played a role in his poor performances. The show won numerous awards upon its release, such as “Anime of the Year” at the 2017 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, “Animation of the Year (TV)” at the 2017 Tokyo Anime Award, and a “Special Award (Tourism)” for Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture x Yuri!!! On Ice at the 2018 Location Japan Awards, just to name a few.
The series was produced by MAPPA and was one of the studio’s few original works. In addition to this sports anime, the studio was involved in a number of popular titles, such asChainsaw Man,Attack on Titan Season 4,Jujutsu Kaisen,andKakegurui.
What’s next for ‘Yuri!!! on Ice’?
Ever since season 1 ended in 2016, fans have highly anticipated that Season 2 would be greenlit, especially due to the series' international success. Unfortunately, news of a new season has yet to be revealed. However, there were plans to make a movie titledYuri!!! On Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence.
It was reported that the film would be based on Viktor Nikiforov and that theproject would enter production in 2017. Unfortunately, in 2024, it was announced onTwitter/Xthat the project had been cancelled due to “constant discussions” about how the movie would be delivered and “various circumstances” that led to the decision to stop production. There hasn’t been any news about the project being transferred to another studio.
Yuri!!! On Iceis available to stream on Crunchyroll. It will be available on Hulu on June 25, 2025.
