It’s been a long wait, but Disney’s live-actionBeauty and the Beastis just around the corner and we’re finally starting to get a sense of how the film will come together. Early trailers and images revealed the patterned, textural aesthetic ofBill Condon’s (Dreamgirls) remake, but it was hard to imagine how that would translate in action. Last week, we got our first taste with a clip ofEmma Watsonsinging “Belle,” and today brings a new clip that puts the focus onLuke Evans' Gaston andJosh Gad’s LeFou as they bring down the house with the village crowd-pleaser “Gaston”....

“Dying is easy, comedy is hard.” So goes the old adage, and for good reason. Ask anyone in acting circles and they’re likely to tell you that comedy is infinitely harder than drama. There’s something intangible about eliciting a laugh; a tip-of-the-tongue unknowable element beyond timing and physicality that demands complete command from the performer. It’s also infinitely trickier to manipulate. There are countless cinematic scores that can bring you to tears or twist your innards in curdling anxiety, but you’d be hard pressed to find compositions that make you bust a gut....

Daniel Pembertonis one of the most exciting film composers working today, not just because his work is great (it is), but because he is determined to never repeat himself. He first came on many peoples’ radars with 2015’s supremely underratedSteve Jobs, for which he crafted a tech-driven score in three parts to match the film’s unique structure. But then he swerved left with a roaring, genuinely ass-kicking score forGuy Ritchie’sKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword—it sounded like a completely different composer....

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a new episode ofBlack Mirror– the last being theJon Hamm-fronted 2014 Christmas special – but fortunately Netflix is hard at work righting that wrong. Amazon Studios has released the first trailer for writer/directorMike White’s (Enlightened) new filmBrad’s Status. The family dramedy starsBen Stilleras a middle-aged man working for a non-profit who suffers something of a mid-life crisis as his musical prodigy son (Austin Abrams) begins applying to colleges to start his own life. Stiller is very much the lead here, and it’s nice to see him tackling more dramatic material recently. He was terrific inNoah Baumbach’sWhile We’re Young, and looks to be giving a great performance here as well....

Fresh off an Emmy nomination for his work as Paper Boi on FX’sAtlanta,Brian Tyree Henryis in final negotiations to joinMelissa McCarthyin New Line’s action-comedySuperintelligence, Collider has exclusively learned. McCarthy’s husband and longtime collaboratorBen Falconeis directing from a script bySteve Mallory(The Boss). McCarthy and Falcone are also producing via their company On the Day. Production is currently under way in Atlanta, and Warner Bros. will release the film next year on Christmas Day....
