Based onPhilip Roth’s acclaimed 2004 novel, the show takes place in an alternate history America in which Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the 1940 election by hero pilot Charles Lindbergh. It follows the Levins, a close-knit Jewish family living in Newark, New Jersey as flagrant anti-Semitism begins to rise in the wake of Lindbergh’s election....

A human voice is a very powerful thing, and a distinct one can also be extremely memorable. It’s why we can pick out the voices of certain characters or actors without so much as a second glance. In the horror genre especially, we become very familiar with certain voices portraying the titular villains. After all, who would Chucky be if he wasn’t voiced byBrad Dourif? Or Freddy Krueger withoutRobert Englund? The same goes for Ghostface fromScream....

Horror andThe Avengersaren’t usually spoken in the same sentence, and itfeels like an implausible crossover. However, if the horror genre was to ever have its own iteration of the superhero group, they would likely be iconic villains. I was not a big fan of 2018’sVenom, a film that I felt was far too bogged down in its self-serious, gritty elements to truly take advantage of its more outlandish moments. Thankfully, the sequel,Venom: Let There Be Carnage, knows that the title character is at his best when you just let him be a total goofball, and so at a scant 90 minutes the movie is really more of a buddy comedy that happens to have some superhero action in it....
