During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, theMobLandstarwas asked about who he could see taking over the legendary 007 mantle. And while Brosnan played it coy at first, his tone swiftly shifted when the nameTom Hardycame up in the conversation. You have our attention, sir.

It’s a simple endorsement — but one that carries serious weight coming from someone who wore the tuxedo across four films, beginning withGoldenEyein 1995 and closing out withDie Another Dayin 2002. Brosnan’s take on Bond bring the character into relevance for a new generation, balancing classic charm with modern tech and attitude.

Hardy, who stars alongside Brosnan inMobLandas Harrigan family fixer Harry Da Souza, has long been floated by fans and bookmakers alike as a top contender for the next Bond. Hardy is an intense actor who’s capable of cold violence and immense charm and charisma within the same character, all traits that would fit perfectly with a secret agent who needs to blend in to different environments.

Brosnan isn’t the only former Bond star to express interest inHardy stepping intothe role, but he might be the most enthusiastic. He also acknowledged that the decision is now in new hands, with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepping back from the franchise they’ve overseen for decades.
