In the almost a decade since the money-making fan-favorite franchise,Pirates of the Caribbean, bowed out withDead Men Tell No Tales, the fate of the film series has been swinging from one extreme to the other. Now that we know for a fact thattwo movies are in developmentand that Disney is toying with the idea of mending its broken relationship withJohnny Depp, the sails are continuing to gather wind. “Well, I don’t know, I can’t say anything at the moment becauseI really don’t know, but there’s definitely availability.I think they’re trying to work out what it would all look like,I personally think it’d be great to get the band back together. That would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we’ll see where it lands.”

Bloom’s blacksmith was a mainstay in the franchise during the original trilogy, but eventually tapped out following 2007’sAt World’s End. And yet, like a siren to a sailor, the movie series called to the actor, and he rejoined in a cameo appearance alongside his ex-co-starsKeira KnightleyandBill Nighyin the post-credit sequence forDead Men Tell No Tales. While it seemed like — as Bloom said — the band would be back together for more adventures on the high-seas, the choppy currents of Depp’s personal life and his ongoing legal struggles with his ex-wifeAmber Heardall but ran the franchise asunder.
