Starz is sticking with a good thing.Deadlinereports that the network will be bringing backPower Book II: Ghostfor a third season. The news comes mere weeks after the series’ second season debuted on the network on November 21 and immediately shattered the first season’s premiere ratings, launching the show to the placement of number one cable telecast among Black households.

Previous seasons' showrunnerCourtney A. Kemp,who has been with the franchise since its starter seriesPower, will be stepping down forBrett Mahoney, who is known for his work as showrunner onEmpire, asPower Book II: Ghostheads into its third season.

The original series,Power, which was broadcast on Starz from 2014 to 2020, centered around the story of a cutthroat drug dealer named James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). St. Patrick aims to let go of his criminal past to begin a life as a nightclub owner while also juggling marital issues and leftover problems with the police and associates from his past life.

Spinoff seriesPower Book II: Ghost, picks up where the story told byPowerleft off. The show centers around the son of St. Patrick, Tariq St. Patrick, portrayed byMichael Rainey Jr., as he pushes forward to pave his own life story. Starring alongside Rainey Jr. for the show’s second season wasMary J. Blige,Shane Johnson,Gianni Paolo,Daniel Bellomy,Paige Hurd,Cliff “Method Man” Smith,Larenz Tate,Melanie Liburd,Daniel Sunjata,Berto Colon,Woody McClain,Lovell Adams-Gray,LaToya Tonodeo,Alix Lapri, andPaton Ashbrook.

The series has been executive produced by Kemp under her End of Episode banner,Curtis “50 Cent” Jacksonunder the G-Unit Film and Television banner, andMark Cantonwith Atmosphere Entertainment MM. Kemp, Jackson, and Mahoney will all serve withChris Selakto executive produce the third season alongsideGeary McLeod, who will join the series as supervising producer as well as director for the first three episodes. Lionsgate Television will oversee as producer.
