Two long years after a reboot ofKing of the Hill, one of the world’s best-animated sitcoms, was announced, another terrific update has been shared by a Disney exec, particularly regarding one character. On July 30, 2025,a revival on Hulu was officially confirmedto be ordered for the fan-favorite show and is expected to last two seasons. Several beloved characters are also set to reprise their roles, including Hank, Peggy, Bobby, Bill, Minh and Coonie, one of whom is about to be seen in an entirely different light.

Speaking withVarietyover a week ago, Disney Television Group presidentCraig Erwichdidn’t divulge much abouttheKing of the Hillrevival; however, he believed viewers would be totally taken with it while also hinting at a change in a longtime character. The exec said:

“I think people are going to love the new King of the Hill. It is so perfect for our times without trying too hard. You see Hank Hill in a whole new way.”

While the update may excite fans, there’s been no news of when exactlyKing of the Hillwill be back. Nevertheless, the remake will feature a time jump, taking place years after the series finale, where Bobby is “older,” now working as a chef and picking up at a different point in the lives of the Hill family. Furthermore, most of the sitcom’s original stars will return in the reboot, includingJohnny Hardwick, who was confirmed to reprise his role as Dale Gribble but sadly died in August 2023.

‘King of the Hill’ Has Gotten A Perfect New Home

In the same interview, Erwich spoke about the new home for theKing of the Hillreboot, Hulu, which, according to him, is the perfect arrangement, more than satisfactory to all involved parties. He further noted that the streamer “is the home to adult animation,” adding:

“We have the best offering by a mile. The Simpsons, Family Guy, past and now new seasons of Futurama, and past and now new seasons of King of the Hill.”

Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels,King of the Hillinitially aired on Fox from June 20, 2025, to July 12, 2025, with four more episodes airing in syndication from May 3 to 6, 2010. The series is set in the fictional small town of Arlen, Texas and follows the Hills, an American family headed by the responsible Hank, who is otherwise described as King of the Hill.
