Prime Video’sReacheruniverse is officially expanding — and it’s not doing things by the book. In fact, fans got their first real glimpse at the highly-anticipated spin-offNeagleyin one of the last places anyone expected: the stands of Chicago’s Wrigley Field. That’s right. During a Cubs vs. White Sox game this past Saturday,NeagleystarMaria StenandAlan Ritchson(yes, Jack Reacher himself) were spotted filming scenes right in the middle of the action. Ritchson, as one would expect, blended in about as well as an elephant in a petting zoo. Far from being a behind-the-scenes leak, the footage was captured and shared by Marquee Sports Network, confirming what fans had long suspected — Ritchson is definitely showing up in the spin-off series.
What Is ‘Neagley’ About?
While Prime Video has been relatively tight-lipped about the exact plot ofNeagley, production has clearly kicked into high gear. In an interview with Collider back in February, Sten teased that things were moving fast. “We are moving quite quickly on it. The first shoot day is tomorrow,” she said at the time. “They moved fast on that one. That is how they had to approach it in terms of timing it out with theReachershow.”
The decision to greenlightNeagleydidn’t become official until October 2023, and Sten admitted she didn’t putmuch stock in the rumors until the paperwork was done. “There’s always rumors. There’s always, ‘In success, maybe this could happen.’ And you’re like, ‘Uh huh, sure,’ because it’s Hollywood, right?” she said. “It’s not over until it’s over and it’s printed and has aired.”
As for what we can expect from the series?Well, Neagley’s life is anything but dull…
“Neagley has a lot going on in her life. She has a history, and she has a life lived. She has some quite severe personal issues of her own that she’s grappling with. We just get to know her better and see her grapple with these issues. For anybody who likes the character, I think it’ll be nice to get to know her a little bit better. And we have rounded up such a great cast for this season of Neagley. I’m just thrilled to get going and sink my teeth in.”
