One of the biggest horror hits of the year is finally winding down at the box office.Smile 2beganstreaming on Paramount+ earlier this week, and although theNaomi Scott-led horror film is still playing in select theaters, it won’t be for much longer. After earning less than $500,000 this past weekend and steadily dropping more by the day,Smile 2has effectively ended its theatrical run before the film officially leaves theaters within the next week or two. While the film can still be considered a major box office success, earning $137 million on a budget of less than $30 million, it will finish its run just short of two box office milestones.Smile 2will fall less than $2 million shy of reaching $70 million domestically and internationally, currently standing at $68.8 million in both markets.

Smile 2also carved its name on several impressive box office lists during its theatrical run, including falling just short of becoming one of the top five highest-grossing movies ever based on a short film.Smile 2finished in the #6 spot for the category, passingLights Out(2016) but failing to out-earnMama(2013). Smile 2 also narrowly missed out on becoming one of the top 25 highest-grossing movies of the year at the domestic box office, a title it held briefly before the recent releases ofMoana 2,Gladiator 2, andWicked, which have all passed it in the last two weeks. Smile 2 lands in the #26 spot, just ahead ofJason Statham’sBeekeeperbut more than $10 million short ofRed Oneat #24, the Christmas action film starringDwayne JohnsonandChris Evans.
