Paramount Pictures has release a newTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowstrailer, and this thing continues to look like a colorful thrill ride.Earth to EchofilmmakerDave Greensteps into the director’s chair this time around, replacingJonathan Liebesmanfrom the first movie. The story of the sequel finds the turtles going up against iconic villains from the comics, including Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady, as the arrival of a new mysterious formula may hold the key to turning the turtles into humans, adding a potential existential conflict to the familiar “villains trying to take over the world” conceit.
This latest trailer showcases a new aerial action sequence that looks pretty swell, and also introduces the turtles by name, giving each character his moment in the sun. While the first film grossed $493 million worldwide, Paramount is clearly angling this sequel more towards a younger skewing crowd instead of trying to be a gritty/grounded franchise redo, and by the looks of things I’m willing to bet that this pivot pays off with a solid run this summer.

Here’s the official synopsis forTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows:

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to cinemas this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.
