After revisitingdifferent iterations of his black symbiote suitforFunkoand Target’s Marvel Selects line,Spider-Manis swinging back to his roots with his latest collectible. The iconic wall-crawler is getting a new Pop! comic cover figure that travels back in time to the days whenStan LeeandSteve Ditkowere at the helm of Peter Parker’s adventures as writer and illustrator, respectively. He won’t be alone either, as the artwork features a few cameos from a Marvel ally andone of his greatest villainsfrom the page and screen. Collider is excited to offer an exclusive preview of the figure and its background pulled fromThe Amazing Spider-Man#19 from 1964.

There’s plenty of action to this Pop!, as it’s depicted holding on tightly to his web and preparing to swing right out of the box. It’s a perfect recreation of the classic cover, which sees the hero tearing through his own web on his way to thwart the evildoers of New York City. At his side are the big-name guest stars of the issue —The Human Torchand Sandman — both of whom are gathered for “An Adventure Epic of Most Compelling Excellence.” Beneath Spidey, however, are the Enforcers, a group of fearsome hitmen and extortionists, including Fancy Dan, Ox, and Montana, who used to be consistent adversaries for the web-slinger inhis early days of crime-stopping. The big crossover cover and figure will be containedin a 7-inch-wide by 10.8-inch-tall and 3-inch-deep case, and will sell for $29.99.

Issue #19 is a much-needed pick-me-up for Spider-Man after enduring constant barrages from the Daily Bugle. In previous installments, he fled from not one, but two fights with his adversaries, the Green Goblinand Sandman, and J. Jonah Jameson seizes the opportunity to continue rallying the public against him. With his mind now at ease with Aunt May cleared to stop taking her medicine, he’s free to get back to his superhero duties and show he’s no coward. After Johnny Storm gets captured trying to cover him, he takes on the teamed-up Enforcers and Sandman to save the Fantastic Four member from a trap designed to stop his fiery powers. It’s a story that speaks toSpidey’s resilience as a heroin the face of personal responsibilities and public ridicule.
