Whether you’re ready or not,Ready or Not: Here I Comeis on the way — and let us tell you that as huge fans of the first movie, we’re more than ready. Thestar-studded cast has been announced, and the beginning pieces are falling together for what will undoubtedly be another extraordinary horror-comedy project to come fromMatt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence. The biggest missing bit of information that we have yet to receive is an update surrounding the storyline, which will be penned by returning writersGuy BusickandR. Christopher Murphy. Thankfully, producerJames Vanderbiltrecently teased what awaited audiences when the follow-up installment eventually explodes into cinemas.

As fans will know, the end of the sequel’s predecessor,Ready or Not, sawSamara Weavingin a last-woman-standing situation after she survived the night and outlived her pursuers, aka her newly sanctioned in-laws. Although we certainlywanteda sequel, it’s hard to imagine where the story of Weaving’s Grace will go next. During a chat with ComicBook, Vanderbilt explained that this was part of the reason whyReady or Not: Here I Cometook so long to materialize.

Headshot Of Samara Weaving

“There are a couple of different ways we are doing it. I don’t want to give anything away. It’s so early, and there is so little out there. What I will say is one of the reasons it has taken a minute to make this sequel was that we were really hard on ourselves on not just repeating what the first movie was, but also, not losing the sauce of what the first movie was.”

Luckily, when it comes to Busick and Murphy, where there’s a will, there’s a way, as Vanderbilt continued,

“It’s interesting because there’s a debate all the way through as to what is real and what is not. That is answered at the end of the first movie, so you can’t put that Le Bail back in the bottle. What Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy do in this script is incredibly smart. As soon as they pitched it, it was, ‘Of course that’s what it is. That’s a great idea.’ It’s such a great way to tell this story. I am so excited for people to see it.”

Expect Plenty of Background in ‘Ready or Not: Here I Come’

The original movieteased the background of the Le Domas family, and it sounds like the sequel will continue to elaborate on their relationship and thedeal they made with the devil, with Vanderbilt explaining,

“I think it’s safe to say we expand the mythology without explaining the entire mythology. I don’t know if that sounds exciting, but it’s exciting to us. I think it’s the right amount of worldbuilding, while still telling an amazing emotional story. We felt so privileged that people embraced that movie, that we didn’t want to revisit it if it was going to kinda be like, ‘Oh, look. They did it again.’ We were all okay leaving it be if we didn’t come up with something that we felt added to it, or in some ways, topped it. We are all really excited about what it is going to be.”
