HBO’sGame of Thronestriumphantly returned to television screens this past Sunday to record ratings and insanely high anticipation. But if for some reason youdidn’tcatch the episode,The Rootsare here to recap it for you in supremely entertaining fashion. On last night’s installment ofThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon threw to Tariq (aka “Black Thought”) to catch viewers up on the goings-on of theGame of ThronesSeason 6 premiere, and he did so with a rap. The result, as you can imagine, is something of a must-watch.
Sunday’s episode was very much a “setting-the-stage” kind ofGame of Thronesinstallment where not much of anything reallyhappened, per se. It was all about moving characters around to places and situations that viewers already knew were coming, getting everything into place for the real Season 6 story to begin with subsequent episodes. There was one truly shocking moment, however, as the close of the episode found Melisandre going allThe Witcheson us by revealing her true form, which is that of a very old, decrepit woman. It appears as though the character will be having something of a crisis of faith following Jon Snow’s death, although really we’re all just biding our time here before she resurrects Snow, right?

There series is"approaching the finish line"according to showrunnersDavid BenioffandD.B. Weiss, with only about 13 episodes of story left following the close of Season 6. So it’ll be curious to see how this season progresses and whether we get any major movement on some of the storylines that have been slowly moving on the backburner throughout the series' run. I mean, those White Walkershaveto be close by now.
