The winners are in for the Tribeca Film Festival 2016 awards! Top honors went toDemetri Martin’sdirectorial debutDean;Craig Atkinson’sdocumentaryDo Not Resist, which takes a look at the militarization of U.S. police forces; andUdi Aloni’sJunction 48, a love story between two Palestinian hip-hop artists who use their music to fight against social injustice.
Dean, starring Martin as a man who falls for a woman (Gillian Jacobs) while his father (Kevin Kline) prepares to sell his family home in the wake of his mother’s death, took home the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature. Outstanding individual performances also includedThe Fixer’sDominic Rains,Mackenzie DavisinAlways Shine, andAlan SabbaghforThe Tenth Man. The full festival will wrap up this April 24th.
