Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s The Twisted Childhood Universe is expanding and its expanding soon! What started as an indie horror project in 2023 withWinnie the Pooh: Blood and Honeyhas now spawned multiple films based on classic children’s characters, including a sequel to the first movie. Another upcoming feature in the franchise will bePinocchio Unstrung, which began production in October earlier this year.

Recently,Frake-Waterfield took to Instagram, to share a story with the announcement that production has wrapped onPinocchio Unstrung, featuring what seems to be the official typography for the title of the film. The director has managed to turn classic lovable characters into horrific ones and has found a strong audience for the sub-genre. It remains to be seen how Pinocchio’s journey into becoming a real boy will be twisted into something horrific.

What to Expect From ‘Pinocchio Unstrung’?

Based on the first two movies in the universe, fans can expect a lot of gore and blood fromPinocchio. While plot details are scarce, the movie will follow a young boy James, who learns of his grandfather Geppetto’s deadly secret, a wooden doll, Pinocchio. The movie will also feature an actual fully practical doll, designed by Emmy-winning artistTodd Masters. Speaking of what the feature is all about, Frake-Waterfieldpreviously saidabout the slasher,

“Our movie flips everything you know about Pinocchio on its head,” Frake-Waterfield said about the slasher. “We have an incredibly talented cast and crew working on this. We are heavily relying on practical effects for all of the deaths and creature work. I can’t wait for the world to meet Pinocchio.”

The movie casts horror icons likeRobert Englundin an undisclosed roleandRichard Brakeas Geppetto, also in the cast areCameron Bellas James,Jessica Balmer, Jack Art Gray,andPeter De Souza-Feighoneyas Michael Darling. Look out for some strong performances,horrific imagery, and a story that’ll hopefully connect the rest of the universe, asPinocchio: Unstrungwill mark onw of several films in The Twisted Childhood Universe afterWinnie the Pooh: Blood and Honeyand its successful sequel.
