Back in September, producer Simon Kinberg told us thatApocalypsewill serve as the culmination of a trilogyfor the core set of characters introduced inFirst Classwhile initiating a new bunch of young mutants at the same time. More recently, we learned that the film will seeQuicksilver on the search for his fatherand will feature an evenbigger, better speedster sequencethat took the crew 22 days to shoot. Singer and the studio have taken an interesting anti-mystery box approach to promoting the film, and have been in some ways, staggeringly open consideringApocalypsedoesn’t hit theaters until May 26th, 2016. It’s a refreshing change from the secrecy and endless tantalization of the Marvel studios model, but only time will tell if it leads to a total burnout before the film actually lands.

Here’s the official X-Men: Apocalypse synopsis.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
